Mayor To Trump: You’re Banned From My City Until Your “Danger Is Understood”

Last night, Donald Trump took a deep plunge into the abyss of intolerance and exclusion when he called “for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.” His xenophobic remarks provoked an outcry of condemnation among Americans not named Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, or Rand Paul.

The Mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida, has had enough of Trump’s racist proposals and has decided to pass a moratorium on Trump visits to his city until we have fully understood the danger and division that Trump’s hatred for political correctness and multiculturalism poses to our nation:

It’s an important symbolic gesture that needs to be echoed around the country. While Trump may claim that he “doesn’t care” about what people think of his “immigration plan,” the sane among us realize that his statements represent an egregious rejection of everything our country stands for; of diversity, of unity, of tolerance and cooperation. Or that it’s all just a incredibly cheap attempt to grab attention away from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s rise in the polls. Either way, his disgusting message has the potential to tear our society apart, and we have a moral duty to ourselves and the world to make sure that doesn’t happen.
