Watch: Bigoted Michigan Mechanic Explains Why He's Going to Deny Service To Gays
In this clip, a Michigan mechanic and self-admitted bigot announces that he will be refusing service to openly gay customers because “enough is enough. Our rights as conservative Americans are being squashed more and more everyday.”
The owner of DIESELTEC, Brian Klawiter, posted an offensive rant on Facebook that proudly stated: “I will not hesitate to refuse service to an openly gay person or persons. Homosexuality is wrong, period. If you want to argue this fact with me then I will put your vehicle together with all bolts and no nuts and you can see how that works.”
Unfortunately, it is legal for him to do so in the state of Michigan. The state has not passed any anti-discrimination laws, and the state Senate currently considering an Indiana-like Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which would enshrine the right to discriminate based on sexuality, including denying employment and housing.
Hopefully Mr. Klawiter’s vocal outburst of ignorance will draw some attention to the state and prompt them to reconsider passing their version of the bill that has caused so much controversy around the nation.
