Watch a Congresswoman Grill the Republican Who Rigged the Gov’t Shutdown

After Republican House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions was caught red-handed changing the rules of the House of Representatives so that only Eric Cantor (or one of his Republican “designees”) can bring the Senate bill to the House floor (where it is very likely to pass and reopen the government), Democrat and Rules Comittee Ranking Member Louise Slaughter took him to task and exposed his shameless ruse for all to see.

“Oh mercy, it just gets deeper and deeper”, were her words of desperation after Sessions coyly admitted that he and his fellow House Republicans eviscerated the traditional rules of the House by taking away the power to bring the resolution to the floor from any Representative to the US Congress.

When asked about this unprecedented change, Sessions honestly admitted, “That’s right, we took that away.”

At this point, she pointed out several inconvenient truths for Sessions and his Republican conspirators, to which he had absolutely no answer. She ended her shaming with this powerful quote,”I think it is an atrocity to the rules of the House, and I think you’re putting the whole country through this angst and aggravation that we did not need to go through. This one, we could have done without, and I must tell you that I’m more and more angry now that I understand what you have done is take away our ability to really make a motion for that Senate vote.

Please watch the video below and share it on social media forums so that every American will know the truth about the reckless government shutdown and the House Republicans’ shameless rigging of the rules in order to maintain it.
