White Supremacists Who Inspired Charleston Shooter Endorse Trump For President
Donald Trump’s racist rants have been torpedoing his business relationships and killing his public approval among reasonable people, but his atrocious attitudes and offensive statements have garnered support from other groups who share those sentiments- white supremacists and neo-Nazis.
Trump has recently been endorsed by Andres Anglin, an American neo-Nazi who operates a racist blog called the Daily Stormer. He announced on his website that “I do not believe he would solve all or even most of the problems we are facing, but he is absolutely the only candidate who is even talking about anything at all that matters…Trump is willing to say what most Americans think: it’s time to deport these people. He is also willing to call them out as criminal rapists, murderers and drug dealers.” Anglin’s website is filled with some of the most gut-wrenchingly despicable racist rants and genocidal fantasies, and a Trump endorsement makes perfect sense.
Trump has also received an defacto endorsement from Kyle Rodgers, who is an official for the Council of Conservative Citizens- the white supremacist group whose website filled the Charleston shooter’s head with hateful propaganda and cultivated the ideas that would lead to Roof murdering nine people in the Emmanuel AME Church. Rogers was hawking Trump2016 shirts to his Twitter followers before deleting his account following the murders, but the Internet remembers and screenshots have been preserved:
The CoCC formerly was known as the White Citizen’s Council and has long had ties to the Republican Party– it makes sense that they would extend their support to an outspoken hatemonger like Trump.
Trump’s remarks have already been discussed and analyzed to death by the media, both mainstream and social, but we cannot allow our collective attention span to let it go so quickly. We, as a nation, cannot allow a person who is seeking the Presidency to get away with saying these kinds of things. America is a multicultural, multiracial, and multi-gendered society that was built by immigrants. Our diversity is one of our biggest assets. Every single person has a right to live in this nation free from judgement and discrimination. Trump’s endorsements by neo-Nazis and white supremacists should sound the death knell of his already limping campaign, but we need to sink it for good. America cannot let him get away with the propagation of these racist remarks.
